What Do I Need To Know If I Am Pregnant in High School?

You may be thinking, “this was not supposed to happen!” As a high school student, it’s hard to consider the number of changes pregnancy brings. You must consider your family, friends, education, and hobbies as you navigate your pregnancy decision. We are here to help you navigate your options.
Over the years, our staff has helped many high school students facing unexpected pregnancies. If you are facing an unexpected pregnancy as a high school student, you are likely feeling overwhelming fear. Fear pushes us toward decisions that we don’t want to make. Most of the time our fears can be eliminated once we know our options and get the help we need.
We want to walk alongside you and share all of your pregnancy options. Our goal is to help you silence the fears and overcome the challenges with confidence.
Your Options as a Pregnant Student
As a pregnant high school student, the law is on your side! Title IX, a federal civil rights law, protects pregnant and parenting high school or college students from discrimination. No one in your school, including teachers or classmates, should pressure you to choose any one route in your pregnancy journey.
Although you have the option, you don’t need to have an abortion to continue your education. Your school can’t discriminate against you because of pregnancy, and a variety of resources are available to help you continue achieving your academic goals.
We celebrate your dedication as a student, and we are here for you. We offer free appointments after school or to fit your class schedule.
Your Next Best Steps
Take a Pregnancy Test
Home pregnancy tests are helpful, but it’s possible to get inaccurate results, especially if the directions aren’t followed carefully. Women’s Resource Medical Centers of Southern Nevada assist you with free clinical pregnancy testing. All of our services are totally free and entirely confidential.
Get an Ultrasound
If your pregnancy test comes back positive, you’ll want to also get an ultrasound. We’ll provide an on-site ultrasound at no cost to you. This will give you more details about your pregnancy, as well as every pregnancy option available to you right now.
Schedule Your Appointment
If you have a suspicion that you may be pregnant, schedule your appointment with Women’s Resource Medical Centers of Southern Nevada right away. Remember, you will never have to pay for any of the services at our Center, and all of our services are confidential.
We are rooting for you!
